Group visits

We hope you will consider Finkley Down Farm for your visit.

Many nurseries, pre-schools, primary and junior schools come back year after year, as there is plenty to see and do whatever your chosen topic, and makes a great end of term reward.

There's lots of hands on learning with children able to touch and feed the animals. Check out our daily Activities timetable which the children can join in on the visit.

Finkley Down Farm offers a choice of activities for Pre-School and Key Stage 1 pupils.

Guided tours

You may choose to spend the day with our Education Guide with the use of our classroom as your base for the day. During our guided tour you learn about the animals, why they are farmed, their diet and the different farm buildings. After your tour you choose from a variety of activites, these have been chosen to extend and enhance children's learning and understanding of farm animals.

The range of acivities offered enables you to tailor the day to the educational needs of your group. Options include: an animal encounter for your group, Pony grooming, Egg Collecting, Rabbit handling, Chick handling or Rodent Handling.

After lunch, which can be taken as a picnic or in the classroom during inclement weather, there are further opportunities to learn through den building, co-operational sand play in our large sandpit, or experience physical challenge in our adventure play area.

We have employed a teacher to write our Education pack which we provide free of charge. It includes a range of classroom based activities to support and extend the children's learning in all areas of the curriculum.

The visit may only be for one day, but the learning can continue all week.
